From Bucket List to Boarding Pass: A Korean Adventure

For two weeks in May, my fiancé, two close friends and I traded our daily routines for the adventure of a lifetime in South Korea, and every moment was unforgettable.

Our trip began in the vibrant city of Seoul, where towering skyscrapers sit beside centuries-old palaces and traditional villages. One moment we were exploring bustling shopping streets in Myeongdong, and the next we were walking through the peaceful grounds of Gyeongbokgung Palace, surrounded by people dressed in traditional hanbok attire. Seoul had a way of blending modern life with deep-rooted history unlike anywhere else we’ve visited.

Of course, no trip to Korea would be complete without the food. From Korean BBQ and tteokbokki to convenience store snacks we couldn’t stop talking about, every meal felt like part of the experience itself. Some of our favorite memories came from simply wandering the streets and discovering tiny restaurants packed with locals, late-night food stalls and markets lined with rows and rows of incredible dishes we had never tried before. Everywhere we turned, there was something new to taste.

After Seoul, we slowed things down with a visit to Jeonju Hanok Village, known for its beautifully preserved traditional Korean homes. The atmosphere there felt completely different from the fast pace of the city. We spent time exploring narrow alleyways, visiting local shops and soaking in the quieter side of Korean culture. It was the perfect shift that gave us a chance to appreciate a more traditional side of Korea.

From there, we boarded Korea’s high-speed KTX bullet train and headed south to Busan. Watching the countryside fly by at nearly 200 miles per hour was an astonishing experience on its own.

Busan quickly became one of our favorite stops. With beaches, mountain views and incredible seafood markets, it offered a completely different energy from Seoul. We spent time walking along the water, exploring local markets and taking in the laid-back coastal atmosphere. Whether we were trying fresh seafood, sightseeing or simply relaxing by the beach, every day brought something new and interesting for us to discover.

After a few amazing days in Busan, we headed back to Seoul for the final stretch of our trip and spent much of our time exploring Hongdae. Known for its lively nightlife, endless shopping and energetic atmosphere, Hongdae quickly became one of the most exciting parts of our trip. The streets were filled with live music, performers, cafés, restaurants and shops around every corner. It felt like there was always something happening no matter what time of day we were out exploring. Not only did I find some of my favorite clothing pieces there, but we also got to experience some of Seoul’s nightlife and enjoy drinks at several popular local spots. It was the perfect way to end an unforgettable vacation.

Traveling internationally is something many people dream about for years, and this trip reminded me how valuable those experiences truly are. The memories, friendships, culture and moments we shared made every mile worth it.

If a dream vacation has been sitting on your bucket list, sometimes the hardest part is simply getting started. Whether you’re planning a relaxing beach getaway, a cross-country road trip, or an adventure halfway around the world, having the right financial support can help turn “maybe someday” into reality.

The True Cost of Minimum Payments

You might think making only minimum payments on your credit card is not so bad. You’re not paying a lot, you keep your credit in good standing and you avoid late fees as long. However, paying only the minimum is actually one of the slowest and most expensive ways to deal with credit card debt.

Big Trips, No Regrets: A Vacation Worth Every Mile

When I told my friends and family about our spring trip to Italy, I was (surprisingly) met with some concern. “You’re planning too much for just ten days.” “Maybe you should pick either northern or southern Italy.” “You’re going to have some long travel days in there.” To be fair, it was my boyfriend and I’s first trip to Europe, and our eagerness to experience as much as possible took precedence over logistics. But we made it work, and it ended up being one of the most incredible vacations.
